I started Fedway with a simple mission:
Help federal employees build and preserve wealth. We achieve our mission whenever we help you better understand your federal benefits package and make smarter financial decisions related to saving, investing, and planning for the future. While most of our website focuses on how we do what we do, it is also important to know WHY we do what we do. Growing up in the Washington, DC area, I became intrigued about wealth creation and financial management after witnessing the wealth disparities in my community. I was raised by an elementary school teacher and a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. With that family structure, education and service have always been at the core of my life.
After working in the financial services industry for many years, I decided to create a financial firm dedicated to the federal workforce as a way to serve those who serve. Understanding the complexities of federal benefits can be daunting for many. I wanted to create a competent, transparent, and supportive firm that could simplify the federal benefits program and provide strategies and solutions on integrating those benefits into a holistic financial plan. Wealth is more than just a number. It is about establishing financial independence and experiencing the lifestyle, retirement, or legacy that you envision. Jerel W. Harvey
Jerel Harvey brings more than 15 years of financial services experience to his role as the Founder and Managing Principal of Fedway Financial. Before his current role, Jerel consulted companies on securing and financing global trade transactions. Jerel’s background also includes serving as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, where he provided wealth management services to affluent and high-net-worth clients.
In the community, Jerel currently serves on the board of The Boost Pad, and he is the Immediate Past President of the Beta Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Jerel also supports various initiatives that promote social and economic mobility through his membership with the New Generation of African American Philanthropists (NGAAP).
Jerel graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in finance and banking from Delaware State University and obtained his MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In his spare time, Jerel enjoys listening to music and podcasts, rooting for DC-area sports teams, and hanging out with his wife Tracey and their two children, Laila and Jaxon.
